Mindreel is a project to create a website of international significance containing a selection of films submitted to the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival (SMHAFF) since its inception in 2006. The project – a collaboration between IRISS, SMHAFF and the University of Strathclyde – began in May 2011, initially as a demonstration concept featuring about 20 films.
In 2012 additional funding was secured to continue the process of negotiating licences with rights holders. Mindreel was extensively redesigned with the aim to add a further 100-150 movies selected from the Film Festival submissions, along with supporting educational material where available.
