Sharing experiences of the workforce

The View from Here - public exhibitions

Plans are underway to curate content for two public exhibitions of The View from Here in 2017 - one at the Grampian Hospital Arts Trust in Aberdeen (10 February - 10 March) and another at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow (June).

We're really excited about these exhibitions, which will share the experiences of the social services workforce in Scotland through creative arts. The exhibitions will feature illustrated diaries, creative portraits, and songs, as well as poetry and stories from practitioners which express their experiences of working in care and support. The objective is to raise public awareness and understanding of what it means to work in social services in Scotland.

The online content

The View from Here website currently presents some of the diary illustrations from the work completed over 2015/16. We're developing new content this year and very much welcome you to get involved.

In October, we brought together a number of practitioners to produce a series of poems that reflect experiences of working in social services. From December we'll publish one poem a week for the next three months. Read the first two poems - and consider submitting your own!

If poetry isn't your bag, we're also encouraging stories of your experiences which you can submit as 'My View' - a letter to the Scottish public. Some of the online content will form part of the physical exhibitions in the new year.
