In 2023, the Scottish Government and the Scottish Association of Social Work (SASW) established the Social Work Anti-racism Oversight Group to lead the development of a national anti-racism action plan. The Group's Statement of Intent, published in November 2024, set out a shared commitment to uproot racism from the sector.
To inform this work, the Group commissioned Iriss to conduct a national survey, open to all those working or studying in social work. The findings (attached below) will directly inform the implementation of the recently developed Anti-racism Action Plan and will serve as a baseline for measuring progress over time, with a commitment to repeat the survey every two years.
