leadership
Creative storyboard based on Insight 17 - Culture change in the public sector - written by Michelle Drumm (IRISS). It depicts how organisational culture change can be enabled and sustained and offers some evidence for how culture change happened in the Highlands in relation to the Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) Highlands Pathfinder programme.
The Changing lives: Report of the 21st century social work review (2006) stressed the need for clear leadership and effective management at all levels within the workforce. While it is important that individuals take responsibility for the development of their own leadership skills, employers need to provide support for them to do so. The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has recently launched a new web resource - Step into Leadership - to promote and encourage effective leadership within the workforce.
Social services systems and processes can be so complex that it is often a challenge to keep the focus on what matters.
Today the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services (IRISS) is launching a series of guides about Leading for Outcomes. These provide support and training materials to help lead the social services workforce to focus on the outcomes important to people.
IRISS has produced audio recordings of the keynote addresses, as well as five video interviews capturing key points from a leadership event that took place in Elgin, Moray on 17 March 2011.
The event was organised by the Moray Collaborative Learning Network, which comprises The Moray Council, Moray College, NHS Grampian; RAF Lossiemouth; Grampian Fire and Rescue Service; Grampian Police, Voluntary Action Moray and the Learning Network North (social services).
