Mindreel formally launched

25 Oct, 2011 by Ian Watson

Mindreel, a database of films from the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, was formally launched on the closing day of the festival, 24 October 2011.

MindReel is a joint initiative led by IRISS in partnership with Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival and University of Strathclyde. The intention is to unlock the educational potential of the hundreds of films that have been submitted to the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival since its inception in 2007. This is a pilot project aimed at demonstrating the educational potential of these films. We hope to secure funding so that we can add more and develop MindReel into a dynamic educational resource of worldwide sigificance.

The launch preceded the Annual SMHAFF film awards, which again attracted an outstandingly high quality field. We hope to include some of these films in Mindreel in due course.
