We're delighted to welcome Karen Reid, Chief Executive at the Care Inspectorate; and Elaine Torrance, President of Social Work Scotland onto the Iriss Board.

Karen is one of Scotland’s foremost leaders in public sector scrutiny. She has extensive experience in devising and leading scrutiny and improvement interventions across the fields of social work, social care, health, education, and community justice. She led the development of new multi-agency scrutiny models for children’s services in Scotland, and played a key role in setting up Iriss back in 2008.

As well as being President of Social Work Scotland, Elaine has recently taken on role of Interim Chief Officer – Health & Social Care for the Scottish Borders Partnership leading on the development of the joint arrangements across health and social care. Previously Elaine worked with people in all adult groups including older people and people with mental health needs in a number of local authorities across the North West of England. She has also worked in Higher Education lecturing in Social Work and Management.

Both will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to Iriss and the team looks forward to working with them.
