Guides to recording practice

Published in News on 22 Oct 2019

What is recording practice and why is it important?

We've recently published a short paper on the topic which explores these questions, and also provides insight from Sharon Laing, Service Manager Corporate Parenting, East Ayrshire Council, who talks about what it means in her context.

Earlier this year we also published findings from an initial scoping review addressing how practice is recorded within social work in Scotland, and which considers how care experienced adults access and understand records written about them. The scoping review was undertaken in response to an initial call from East Ayrshire HSCP to address how care experienced people access and understand their records, and how practitioners could use co-production tools to make recording practice a more inclusive and accessible process. We are continuing our work with East Ayrshire HSCP over 2019/20.
