Can ethical commissioning fix social care?

Published in News on 17 Oct 2022

On 27 October we're contributing to a Glasgow Council for Voluntary Services online event that will explore what ethical commissioning means for the National Care Service and the social care and voluntary sector.

The challenges of commissioning in social care were acknowledged in the Feeley Review and the Scottish Government is focusing on ethical commissioning and its role in shaping a National Care Service (NCS). But what's already happening in Scotland and elsewhere? And what could we be doing now to improve commissioning?

At the event, Dee Fraser, Iriss CEO and Louise Bowen, Iriss Development Lead will speak about compassionate and collaborative commissioning and Iriss' work to date on the topic. There will also be input on community commissioning in Scotland and work going on in Wales to deliver care in a more ethical and person-centred way.
