Community social work in practice

Published in News on 25 Oct 2022

A national conference to showcase community social work in Fife and across the UK will be held in Dunfermline on 8 November 2022.

Fife is currently testing the development of a community social work model which is rooted in prevention and early intervention. This involves social work staff being visible and accessible in their communities.

There will be a number of speakers, workshops, and stalls. Iona Colvin, Chief Social Work Advisor will provide opening remarks alongside Fiona Duncan, Chair of The Promise.

Speakers include: Lemn Sissay OBE, author and broadcaster; Fergal O’Brien MBE, Training and Development Consultant at the Southern Trust in Northern Ireland; and Colin Turbett, social work author and consultant.

We look forward to attending on the day. We plan to produce a short podcast episode featuring some of the speakers and community members, so subscribe to the Iriss.fm podcast to catch it.
