Hannah Graham and Gill McIvor from the Scottish Centre for Criminal Justice Research (SCCJR) talks to Michelle Drumm from Iriss about the Iriss Insight they co-authored on the use of electronic monitoring in Scotland.
To begin, Gill gives a brief explanation of what electronic monitoring is and what it’s used for. Hannah then goes on to speak about her personal experiences of testing out wearing an electronic tag - what it felt like and how it made her feel.
Gill speaks about when electronic monitoring was introduced in Scotland and where we are in comparison to other countries.
To conclude, both talk about some of the ethical issues around the subject.
