Learning Disability Employment: Tools and Guidance (NHS Scotland)

This guidance supports NHS organisations to increase the number of people with learning disabilities employed in NHS services. The accompanying toolkit aims to raise awareness, provide information on reasonable adjustments, and break down some of the barriers that both employers and potential employees may face. It aims to help create a culture which welcomes people with learning disabilities and promotes equitable access to job opportunities.

Human Rights Act 1998

The Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA) is a UK law that brings the rights enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) into domestic law, making them directly enforceable in UK courts. It ensures that all public authorities in the UK, including the government, must act compatibly with these human rights.

Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC)

Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) is Scottich Government's commitment to provide all children, young people and their families with the right support at the right time.

The GIRFEC principles and values are based on children's rights. GIRFEC contains eight wellbeing indicators (SHANARRI) that describe how a child or young person is doing at a point in time.

Getting it right for everyone (GIRFE)

GIFRE is a multi-agency approach to health and social care support and services from young adulthood to end of life care. It is Scotland’s approach to designing and delivering public services that focus on people’s needs. It makes sure services work well for everyone who uses them.

A toolkit is included, which is designed to directly addresses the real challenges and needs of those accessing care and support.

Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007

The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 is the key piece of legislation relating to the protection of adults at risk of harm and neglect in Scotland.

There is a Code of Practice to support practical application of the Act.

The Act was passed by the Scottish Parliament in February 2007 and received royal assent on 22 March 2007.

National Trauma Transformation Programme

A website providing access to evidence-based training, tools and guidance to support trauma-informed and responsive systems, organisations and workforces in Scotland. It aims to support everyone, in all sectors of the workforce, to know how to adapt the way they work to make a positive difference to anyone who has been impacted by psychological trauma and adversity.

NHS public protection accountability and assurance framework

This framework sets out evidence of high-quality, safe, and effective services that promote the protection of children and adults. The evidence included in this framework reflects key recent policy and practice developments. This framework is intended to guide Health Boards in assessing their public protection arrangements at both strategic and operational levels. The aim is to ensure greater consistency in what people can expect in terms of support and protection from health services in Scotland.

Joint inspection of Adult Support and Protection overview report (Care Inspectorate)

Joint inspection reports provide independent scrutiny and assurance of how partnerships ensure that adults at risk of harm are kept safe, protected, and supported. This overview report summarises the inspection findings of 25 Adult Support and Protection partnerships. It shares 'success factors' - good practice that means many adults at risk of harm are safer and have enhanced wellbeing.
