Description

This video, part of Dundee's bitesize video series on the Adults with Incapacity Act 2000, explains the role of the mental health officer (MHO).

The first part of the presentation clarifies what an MHO is. Since an MHO must also be a social worker and be employed by the local authority, this section also sets out what makes the MHO role distinct from a social worker, and how a social worker might become an MHO. The second part of the presentation sets out what an MHO does, key functions and responsibilities, how these link into legislation, and what a 'typical day' might look like.
