Knowledge Hub: Learning Reviews

This is a community of practice for members, sub-group members, and associate members of CPC Scotland and APC Conveners Scotland; and the Social Work Scotland ASP sub-group. It aims to provide a space for members to connect with each other, to exchange knowledge and share best practice around learning review processes, research, policy, and learning.

Learning and Development Practitioners: Their Experience of Sharing ‘Understanding Age in Adult Support and Protection Legislation and Child Protection Guidance’

Following on from the Understanding Age report, an online session brought together Learning and Development (L&D) colleagues to understand how they disseminate the resource in their local areas. This report captures their thoughts and experiences, offering insights into the practices - and challenges - of embedding new knowledge within local areas.

Professional curiosity: Resource pack

This resource pack aims to raise awareness about embedding professional curiosity in practice. It can be used in team meetings, as part of group/individual supervision, or for individual professional development.

It includes several practical tips and practice scenarios. There is an accompanying video explaining key concepts.

Defensible decision-making (Tayside)

Defensible decision-making, in the context of Adult Support and Protection in Scotland, involves making decisions that are well-founded, transparent, and can be justified.

Public protection (learning site)

These resources are designed to support the health workforce in relation to child and adult protection responsibilities. The resources will help workers understand and respond appropriately to those being harmed, and those at risk of harm. There are two levels to this resource: Level 1 (informed) and Level 2 (skilled).

This e-learning is part of TURAS and a free account is required to access the resource.

Adult chronologies (e-learning)

This interactive e-learning course has been adapted from the Tayside Regional Improvement Collaborative - Priority Group 5 (Safeguarding and Child Protection) e-learning course. It has been developed to support enhanced practice in the use of chronologies when working with individuals and their families.

Cultural humility (e-learning)

Cultural humility is a practice of self-reflection about how our own backgrounds and the backgrounds of others can impact on our relationships. It is relevant to creating an inclusive, equitable and diverse culture in health and social care. This resource has been designed to support development of cultural humility values, attitudes, and behaviours. Included are several videos which explore the experiences of health and social care workers from varied cultural backgrounds working in Scotland.

This one-page explainer sets out what can be found in the resource Understanding age in Child Protection guidance and Adult Support and Protection legislation. It explains how to get the most out of the resource, especially for those working with 16 and 17 year olds. This one-page explainer also contains additional reflective questions to consider and ideas for group learning sessions on the topic.
