International perspectives in rural social work

This webinar, which took place in early March 2023, was about rural social work practice in two very distinct places across the globe – Alaska and Sierra Leone – with a focus on community capacity building.

It began with a presentation from Retchenda George-Bettisworth of University of Alaska Fairbanks talking about a 'grow your own' social work scheme to identify and train remote and rural social workers.

That was followed by Ruth Stark and George Mansaray, sharing learning about the Ubuntu practitioner and rural practice with communities in Sierra Leone.
