We published the quality improvement framework (QIF) on 15 October 2024. The primary purpose of the QIF is to support Adult Support and Protection partnerships to carry out multi-agency self-evaluations of their adult support and protection arrangements. We can also use the QIF to underpin future joint inspections of Adult Support and Protection.
When developing the QIF, we collaborated extensively with the Adult Support and Protection community, and incorporated their views into the QIF. We held four highly successful workshops, where colleagues from across Scotland discussed and commented upon the QIF. Their comments informed and enhanced the QIF. We consulted with adults with lived experience of trauma and of the Adult Support and Protection system. We included their powerful views in the QIF.
The value of self-evaluation in the public sector in Scotland is well-established, and Adult Support and Protection partnerships have options on how they use the QIF (there is further information about this in the document). Multi-agency self-evaluation of a partnership’s Adult Support and Protection arrangements can:
- Be a vital tool for the effective governance of adult support and protection.
- Drive improvement and measure progress with the partnership’s improvement activities.
- Identify good practice.
- Assess progress for key themes, such as involvement and inclusion of adults at risk.
- Reveal problems the partnership needs to rectify.
- Contribute to the safety, health, and wellbeing of adults at risk.
We hope the QIF will be an invaluable tool for Adult Support and Protection partnerships in Scotland, and that it will support continuous improvement for Adult Support and Protection going forward.
…and an extra message from Jeanette at the ASPire Hub
The ASPire Hub is really pleased to be able to feature the essential work of all involved in the QIF. The ASPire Hub has a dedicated section for all the resources mentioned in Appendix 3 of the QIF, helping everyone to access these resources more easily.
