DotComUnity is a newly developed website that was launched nationally in February 2010. It aims to provide a one-stop online resource and directory of community services, care information and social interactivity for adults and children with a learning or physical disability within local communities throughout the UK.
As readers of this column will know, we enthusiastically believe that the web offers great potential for communication and learning, as well as for fun and leisure. But we also recognise legitimate concerns about the dangers, especially for children and vulnerable people.

This evaluation explores the practitioner research initiative of Children 1st and the Glasgow School of Social Work which was aimed at supporting practitioners to develop and undertake their own small-scale research projects. The project sought to have an impact at three levels: individual, team, and organisation. The findings discuss the consequences, benefits and outcomes at all of these three levels.
